Maintaining BACnet on University Campuses

The team at Optigo is excited to announce we are co-hosting an event at Princeton University on April 5, all about maintaining BACnet systems on university campuses. This one-day conference will give attendees the tools to manage their building automation systems, provide insight into IP Networking for BACnet, and cover challenges and successes at other universities.

Universities are massive properties, with many devices and shifting priorities all demanding attention. The stakes are high to keep HVAC, lighting, and security systems running as they should. Just a few months ago, Princeton University had breaker panels restarting and football stadium lights turning on in the middle of the night. The controls engineer, Gary Brancato, couldn’t figure out what was causing this recurring problem. Unfortunately, there’s currently no organized training for university facility managers and controls engineers, so this confusion is common. They have few resources to turn to when problems crop up.

We want to change that. We’re teaming up with Controlco to bring a building automation intensive to Princeton University. This conference is for controls engineers who run BACnet systems at colleges and universities every day. The one-day seminar will focus on BACnet troubleshooting, IP networking, and learning from the successes of other universities.

Interested? Limited space is available, so learn more about the event and register now. See you at Princeton!

BUENO SYSTEMS

Energy analytics company BUENO Systems was working on a mall when the worst happened. The network failed and equipment failed to “ON,” which kept units running 24 hours a day. As it turns out, the mall’s network was overloaded and glitching before BUENO even deployed. It had been for a while. These latent issues were a ticking time bomb and would have resulted in a failure if any new devices were added to the network. Because it was BUENO’s device, though, they had to fix it. The only way to fix it was out of pocket.
