Optigo Networks had the pleasure of traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada last week, for the world’s largest heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning conference: AHR Expo. At the Expo, we launched our new product integration with Contemporary Controls, showcased Optigo Connect’s latest features, presented on measuring the health of BACnet systems with Visual BACnet, and welcomed our newest team member, Ryan Hughson previously of Delta Controls.

Our innovative new collaboration with Contemporary Controls was on display at both companies’ booths. The integration merges their top-selling BASrouterLX with our powerful Visual BACnet, allowing operators and integrators to easily capture data from their MS/TP networks, and then analyze and diagnose issues. With a feature to schedule or remotely trigger captures on demand, users don’t even have to be on-site, as the router will push captures straight onto Visual BACnet. We showed off some of our most popular Optigo Connect features, as well. Our ONS – S2 smart aggregation switch was a hot topic, with its ability to achieve redundancy through an automated active/standby feature. Our upcoming release of OneClick Secure — which merges easy-to-manage switches with secure systems for an impenetrable smart building network — also started conversations: with the click of a single button, users can close all unused ports, and lock used ports to the applicable MAC address. Stay tuned for more news about OneClick Secure.

At the Expo, our CEO Pook-Ping Yao presented on how to measure the health of BACnet systems with Visual BACnet. He talked about how the platform helps users quantify the health of their BACnet system and perform comprehensive audits.

We also welcomed our recent hire, Ryan Hughson, previously of Delta Controls and a long-time champion of Optigo Networks, as Manager of Building Solutions. With 15 years’ worth of experience in the building automation industry, Ryan was a great addition to our booth and our company. Read more about the newest hire at Optigo.

How OT Networks Drive Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is at the heart of many organizations’ policies to address their overall carbon footprints. For facilities operators, campus managers, and their vendors, the drive to decarbonize falls under their purview. Let’s look at what exactly decarbonization is, what impacts this policy has on OT networks, and some of the ways facilities and systems integrators have begun to tackle the problem.

Is BACnet/SC the Key to Securing OT Networks?

The success of BACnet/SC will depend on how widely it is adopted and how well it integrates with other security technologies. That said, with the right implementation strategies, and a focus on maintaining flexibility and interoperability, BACnet/SC has the potential to play a central role in securing OT networks against future threats.
