Simplify your network – extend its reach – save space and resources. That sums up the newest family of IP connectivity solutions for smart buildings that will be launched today by Optigo Networks at Realcomm/IBcon 2013 in Orlando, Florida. Optigo Networks’ solutions are custom designed to enable perators of properties covering large physical areas to reduce the costs and complexity associated with connecting next generation intelligent buildings. In particular, where conventional networks typically require multiple powered networking switches and large swaths of copper cables, Optigo Networks’ optical solutions allow businesses to simplify their network architecture, to extend the reach and scalability of their large building networks, and to save on capital and ongoing operational costs.

“We are pleased to launch our family of IP connectivity solutions for the growing intelligent building market at Realcomm/IBcon 2013. We recognize that it is the perfect venue to highlight the benefits of Optigo Networks’ technology, including addressing many of the physical and costly disadvantages of conventional copper-based Ethernet technology.” said Pook-Ping Yao, CEO of Optigo Networks. “We envision a world of smart and connected buildings. We believe that the use of optical fiber, and our new ONS-S2 Optical Ethernet Switch in particular, will be an integral part of enabling IP connectivity in buildings now and into the future.”

Within larger properties, high definition (HD) surveillance systems are increasingly being deployed to provide security and important services such as traffic analytics. Often, the supporting infrastructure necessary to connect IP cameras is very cumbersome, particularly when covering large areas in properties such as malls, schools and warehouses. One of Optigo Networks’ solutions, being highlighted at IBcon 2013, allows customers to use its ONS-S2 Optical Ethernet Switch to reliably connect HD surveillance cameras, Wi-Fi access points and other IP-enabled devices across large campus-style environments with minimal equipment and wiring.

Optigo Networks is partnering with Forest City Enterprises of Cleveland, Ohio, to showcase the potential of Optigo Networks’ optical networking solutions. Initial implementations have already begun and others are in the planning phases in shopping centers and mixed-use real estate developments across the United States. “Optigo’s technology provides a connectivity solution to installations that would otherwise be costly and complex due to distance imitations, conduit size, and EMI susceptibility”, said Mike Smith, VP of Building Technology Services of Forest City Enterprises. “As a technology leader in the commercial real estate business, we are happy to work with Optigo Networks by adopting their advanced networking technology for our intelligent buildings.”
