“Optigo has a focused set of innovations trying to solve a market opportunity in how buildings operate and stay healthy — how they are wired, monitored, and remain secure,” said Whalen. “I love that its solutions are practical and designed with a deep understanding of how building systems need to be connected and maintained.”
Whalen currently serves as the SVP and CIO at Boston Properties, where he is responsible for the direction and implementation of technology across its enterprise. Prior to joining Boston Properties 19 years ago, he served as Vice President, Information Systems at Beacon Properties. His background in CRE tech makes Whalen a perfect fit for Optigo Networks’ board.
“Jim is a great addition to Optigo’s board of directors,” said Pook-Ping Yao, CEO of Optigo Networks. “He brings a unique perspective to our team, ensuring the voice of our customers is at the forefront of our strategy. We are confident that his experience and leadership will continue driving us towards innovation that will be the future of smart buildings.”
Whalen’s expertise in the commercial real estate and smart building industries will give him an important role on Optigo Networks’ board of directors. He merges understanding of CRE, IT, and leading-edge technologies.
“For over 14 years, I’ve worked in adopting converged building networks first driven by unique operational needs then by economies-of-scale and more recently by cybersecurity,” said Whalen. “The amount of technology being incorporated and layered into new buildings is only increasing and accelerating. The challenge requires both organizational and change management approaches in bringing engineering, property, and IT disciplines together along with your outside partners to achieve efficiencies and service levels.” Download the PDF of this press release.
